Knowing that Peace is within me, (somewhere!), I often recite the prayer of Saint Francis before my morning meditation that goes like this:
Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love:
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
I originally posted this prayer on Hanukah the Scribe with my interpretation of each line, ‘St Francis Prayer, Line by Line’ over 13 lines from 12th to the 24th September 2011, under the Category of Illumination, if you are interested in my understanding you can find these lines on: http://www.hanukahthescribe.wordpress.com.
Many of us will say, ‘Peace be with you’ When we meet or are invited during a service or ceremony to offer each other a sign of peace that can be a handshake, a kiss or the sign of the cross accompanied by the brief decree.
Upon retiring we make the sign of the cross on each other’s forehead with the simple request, ‘May the Lord Bless you’, or simply ‘Bless you’. Inferring in our own minds the gift of Peace in the blessing.
This was a direct follow on from the words of our communicators who will entreat simply, ‘May the Lord Bless us all’ at the end of our discussions. So when someone says ‘Peace be with you’, or ‘Bless you’! What does it mean to you? Better still what do you feel inside?
We were visited by some of the staff of our Doctor’s Surgery the other morning, on their country walk, who remarked on the atmosphere of Peace and happiness in the house. (We will be helping one of them with her English lessons.)
Then lo and behold this arrived:
Here is your Daily Home & Garden Horoscope for Monday, May 20
‘Though you can’t put your finger on why or how, your home seems to have a spirit of its own, and everything in it exudes personality. It must be the way that you live in the home — there are clear signs of happy inhabitants!’
Not that we believe in the Horoscopes but clearly the synchronicity was hard to resist!
Together with the post channelled through Dawn Katar:
My friends, I say ‘Peace be with you’ and I am not hoping you will accept; I am trusting that Peace dwells with you and am decreeing your state of Divine Peace. Not each of you will believe this decree, yet it will not change the Truth of your Divine Nature. Peace be with you now and always.
Jeshua ben Joseph
As we have said many times, even if it were proved that the man Jeshua was a myth we would still believe in his message of Peace and Love. (Some of you may know him as Jesus but he was never called by that name.)
Peace and love be with you, David
Blessed be 🙂
Indeed Cat you too are blessed. Love, David
Sending you Peace and Love, and may your home forever be filled with its presence..
love Sue
Yours too Sue. Love, David
